Julia Fish at Saress had a product that was well publicised, sold in good numbers and had won a number of awards for design. However, the website desperately needed an upgrade as it was sometimes difficult to use and left many potential purchasers confused and unable to order the goods they wanted.

Julia spent many hours chasing up lost orders and trying to find where the system had failed to take payments. If the sales were going to grow, drastic changes needed to be made.

Design Brief

The brief to us was to upgrade the site and give it a completely fresh look but above all, make it easier to use for both customer and the company itself. As many tasks as possible had to be automated and the site needed to work efficiently so that customers could order quickly and easily without having to constantly contact the Saress staff.

The new design aimed to completely upgrade the look of the site and it was to portray the 'exclusive' nature of the brand.

The Saress is the only item of clothing being sold by British Airways on its flights and has been mentioned on GMTV and This Morning - it was high profile and the site needed to deliver.

Our designs were a hit and the company has received many compliments from its thousands of customers.Moreover, the comment from the first ever customer was "this is the easiest 34 pounds I've ever spent!" - we had succeeded in making the site easy to use.

Features

We are very clear to point out that a website isn't just a 'website'. Whenever we deal with a new client we handle it like another part of your business, we don't just provide a system that will take orders, we also make it easy for the company to administer.

Each site is bespoke depending on the type of service or product and the Saress site includes the following features:

· Despatch note and invoice printing

Saress may take over a hundred orders in a day and printing each one off would become
difficult and time consuming. The Saress staff simply press a button and all requested orders
are printed.

· Export details to Royal Mail

It doesn't just print the despatch notes, it actually exports all the data for import into the Royal Mail's despatching system. All the Saress staff has to do is then match up the consignment note with the items and they're ready to go.

· Export to Sage

The system automatically creates a Sage file for each order. Sage then periodically imports this file for full accounting and stock control.

· Secure Payment

All payments are sent via PayPal Pro or PayPal Express. Some customers are happy with PayPal, others distrust it so the system offers both solutions. If the customer chooses to pay by credit card it is actually processed by PayPal, but the customer never sees the PayPal site.

· Ease of use

The administrators can add pages simply by pressing the 'add a page' button on the site, likewise adding a product is just as easy. We only provide the functionality necessary, we don't over‐burden a site with complex systems that are not needed.
