Even during these tough times it appears online sales won’t be stopped. Online retailers are still seeing brisk business even though the High Street is taking a hit as consumers stay away. Some analysts are struggling to find the reason why, but it seems obvious to me…
I just couldn’t resist this. Enjoy:
It’s been a strange few weeks in the world of online social media as both Facebook and Twitter have found themselves at the mercy of news headlines that seem to suggest that they might not be the wholesome pastimes we thought they were.
According to the news, kids who partake in these innocent interactions will end up stupider than those that play football in the street or chug their wooden train set about the carpet. According to some scientific report, social networks are evil, vile places that actually suck IQ.
Except they’re not and there’s no such scientific report.
Email is everywhere now and it’s use is as common as drinking tea for most of us, however this ease of use means we are often very hasty to fire something off that we really shouldn’t. One moment of madness can result in someone being upset or even worse, a big headline and news reports for everyone to see.
As Damian McBride discovered to his downfall, you really shouldn’t try to use email to bring down the opposition because you might be the one looking for work.
I’ve been banging on lately about how good social media is for your company and your brand and how it could potentially rocket your income if used correctly.
However, recently there have been a number of cases where social media has been absolutely terrible for a company, to the point where they’ve lost customers and it’s all gone very pear-shaped.
One of our partners/customers is a an expert at ACT. We’ve teamed up with him because he provides a service that actually means you can make money out of your existing work efforts. You know that copy of ACT you bought a few years ago, installed and then left to gather dust – he helps you make it work.
CRM is fantastic, it works well and it means you can squeeze information and therefore sales out of customers and your campaigns. Trouble is, many people don’t use it. Shame on you!
There’s no doubt about it – Twitter is a phenomenon. It has absolutely taken the social networking world by storm and is currently the fastest growing social platform with a massive increase in visitors every single day. However the world is split between those that ‘get it’ and those that really don’t have a clue and wonder what all the fuss is about.
I’m going on about this quite a bit now, but it’s worth it because we are hearing really good things from people who are spending just a little bit of time on their SEO and getting great results.
And that’s the key to this. You may feel as if your competition has you overwhelmed and is dominating the first page of Google, but really, given a bit of time and effort – you can beat them.
In a previous post I spoke about the hideous use of hidden text within a page to promote certain keywords. I also mentioned that these were techniques being used by rival SEO companies. Not only is it really bad to be using these techniques in the first place (not just bad, stupid) it’s also unnecessary.
