So, you’ve set up twitter now and you want to look cool. Well, you ‘aint gonna do it with that default rubbish they provide for you – quick, make it look ace by uploading a sexy picture!
Surely you know what Twitter is now? No? Well, it’s been all over the newswires and it seems everyone is now pushing it as the next ‘big thing’. But what is it and how can you use it for business?
Well, we aim to tell you, but it’s best if you just try it out yourself, so we’ve put together this little video in which you can hear me soothingly guide you through the whole process. Ahhh, it’s loverly.
I was reminded this week of how fickle we are as subjective humans when someone pointed out a few things with our site that irked him (thanks, Tony!).
It got me to thinking – is it possible to create a site that is absolutely perfect for all people, that won’t offend everyone and that converts all visitors into leads?
Put off by the cost of search engine optimisation? Don’t fancy spending all that cash on something you could do yourself?
Even better – how about if you could learn all about it and then do it for other people and make money? Fancy a new career?

So, I spoke about the many companies telling everyone that their website is full of errors and it’s going to go down in flames but I also mentioned something else that is being pushed at the moment, the utter guff that is ‘keyword density’.
Have you been told that your density is wrong? Did you slap them in the face? Well here’s what they’re talking about and why you need to know when you’re being sold a pup.
The Internet has obviously revolutionised the way we consume knowledge and blogs are now the first choice for people looking to get the scoop on the latetest happenings in the world. This has had a terrible effect on newspapers, especially those who haven’t embraced the net and used it to their advantage.
For example, wheras The Guardian actually increased its paper-based readership through clever use of the Internet, others simply see it as a way of providing even more pictures of scantily clad models or videos of car crashes.
“Your website has over 50 errors”
“Your keyword density is too low”
“Your keyword tags don’t contain all your keywords”
Sound familiar? Has an SEO firm been using these techniques to bamboozle you into hiring them? We’ve heard of loads of companies doing this and as we are all about education, I thought we should explode some of these myths straight away.
When I speak to people about what I do, I very often get dragged into a conversation about general IT stuff like PCs, scanners and how to turn on the spell checker in Microsoft Word. It’s called the ‘curse of the IT geek’ because you only have to mention you’re in an industry related to computers and you’ll be asked your opinion on everything from websites to what cable is needed to connect a new high definition telly.
One aspect I do have an opinion on though is security and virus protection and it’s a subject that’s raised a few eyebrows…
In an attempt to make sure this blog doesn’t get too ‘SEO centric’, here’s a little bit of light relief, a website you can amaze your friends with and have a bit of fun in the office to-boot.
