OK. Here is a perfect example. Not more than a week ago, I was having an entertaining little conversation with myself about whether or not I would ever market for Virgin. I'm no prude. I belted out Madonna's "Like a Virgin" more than a few times after more than a few drinks. But I think something about saying it out loud as part of a normal business conversation would make me uncomfortable.

I won't bore you with the details of my thoughts, but this was all on my mind. Including wondering why he used "virgin" as a flag-ship word - and some other odd thoughts.

I basically was too lazy to look it up - it wasn't very important. And now, by way of a series of interesting links - the information I wasn't really looking for is plopped right in my browser.

By the way - I didn't actually READ the linked article at the top until just now - I came back to re-read something else, but clicked on the link this time. Complete coincidence I'm sure.

Stuff like this happens to me all the time. Most of it is not very important. But it is there.

I'll let you know if Richard Branson ever offers me a job.

Is there some force at work here that can explain all this? Why would I get three seperate pointers towards this subject in a matter of hours? Does this mean there is some cosmological significance to what I’m about to write about?

No.

perhaps you are underestimating your place in the universe [she said with a flirtatious smile and a raised eyebrow]... you saw three separate pointers - decided it was relatively insignificant [to you] - but decided to write this article anyway.

i'm not saying that powerful cosmological forces are constantly at work - but there is a high probability that something you wrote will be one of three or more pointers for someone else - who may then bounce off in a different direction than they were going before.

whether we deal with our instincts scientifically or emotionally doesn't matter. the more honest we are with ourselves about our failures, the more we learn to trust ourselves. the opposite is also true.
